What sets our designs apart
It is Sustainable’s™ approach to Site Management that enables them to build beautiful buildings on even the most difficult and sloping sites. Buildings touch the ground likely, often utilizing stilts and modular designs to maximize space. The location of the building’s openings take advantage of prevailing breezes and view paths, whilst minimizing undesirable aspects such as the Western Sun in Queensland.
In essence, Sustainable™ designs stunning living spaces for today and tomorrow. Their buildings feel alive and respond to the surrounding environment and it is this living quality that generates the uplifting feeling people feel when they spend time in one. Sustainable has won more than 40 industry awards over the last 10 years.
The houses are designed by our Architects specifically for you. We take the time at the front end to involve ourselves in getting to know you and your family. Learning your specific requirements and what sort of things you like and dislike. By learning your personality we can than reflect that in our design of your house. The house will be designed to address current trends, popular demands and perceived needs, but be flexible enough to adapt to changing styles and individual family requirements
The houses are designed specifically for the site. At Sustainable™ we are a strong believer in regional diversity of vernacular architecture, homes modified to suit local conditions. A home that does not rely on artificial heating or cooling devices to remain liveable, especially during extended periods of power failure
Fundamental to our designs is the showcasing of the warmth and beauty inherent in natural and sustainable products, the variety of products available and how those products relate and interact with other major building products including concrete, masonry, steel and fibre cement.
At Sustainable we are not doing anything differently we are just doing it better. We believe that all houses should be designed responsibly and be flexible enough to adapt to future requirements. It is a process inherent in all of our designs and is constantly being adapted to embrace new technologies and methods. At the same time, historical knowledge and local building ‘know how’ cannot be ignored; methods which have evolved over time to suit and overcome a particular local condition need to be included.
This ‘know how’ is overlooked in the current ‘great Australian blandness’, the spreading disease of rendered brick veneer, tile roof houses which is spreading across our suburbs. A house designed for the Gold Coast, should not be constructed the same or look the same as a house designed for the gold coast hinterland, let alone being the same as houses designed for Melbourne winters, Sydney’s inner city or Darwins tropical wet season.
