6 Star Recipe House Design and Construct - from deconstruction of the existing home with a 98% recycling strike rate, to a new home with fully integrated landscaping - water storage and photovoltaic solar system to ensure the home with energy and water year in, year out.

Our clients approached us, with 40 perch parcel of land within Bardon, where they wanted to construct a family home which celebrated life and which provided the ability to experience the splendor of its setting and landscape.

This two level house represents the essence of the traditional Queenslanders and is an integration of beauty, practicality, passive solar design and ventilation, resource efficiency and craftsmanship. It remains close to nature and in harmony with the surrounding environment whilst maximising the views of the surrounding hills from the upper level.

The house is clad with corrugated iron, timber, glass features and beautiful bamboo floors, this house is a unique piece of architecture with a replenishing effect that makes you feel revitalised and uplifted. The house is also fitted with AAA taps and fittings, which reduce average water consumption considerably, helping us manage the use of this valuable resource. Flooded with natural light and ventilation, the focus of the house is on the beautiful site and its form.

The form takes in essence two pods linked via an entry breezeway. An open plan living area which flows onto the large north-east facing deck provides the core of the dwelling. The house maximises the views of the surrounding landscape with the main living and deck being located on the upper floor. The resulting house is a delightful, unique piece of architecture that makes you feel revitalised and uplifted, creating the ambience for the home to be tranquil and working in harmony with its surroundings.

The clients demonstrated open-mindedness, patience and a trusting working relationship, giving Sustainable enormous autonomy in delivering the best possible outcome.
