The house has a very important physical and solid connection to the earth. A masonry blade wall runs the length of the building, projecting at an angle, to maximise the spectacular views over the golf course including the 17th Hole. 

This masonry blade wall is important in two ways:

1) It gives a solid connection to the earth, providing thermal mass, reducing the transfer of energy to and from the house.  Createing a cooler internal temperature in Summer and a warmer internal environment in Winter.  The Blade is located on the Western Facade of the house, thus reducing the impact of the Sun.

2) It demonstrates a combination of stylish architectural features and elements, giving the house a different and distinctive appeal.
