bringing the built environment to life

Sustainable building also involves taking into consideration the natural airflows of the site, and constructing the house in a way that takes advantage of these through passive ventilation

The site was an 'unwanted' problem site, the awkward child of a subdivision of 1 large block into 3 smaller blocks. The block in question was the most difficult and challenging of the 3 new sub-divided blocks, with a sub 9-metre frontage and an approx 12.5 metre fall over the first 28 metres of the proposed building pad alone!

When designing this home, we really wanted to escape the ' grocery box home' typical of small lots. We used our architectural interpretation and expertise in order to create a home with incredible articulation, barely ever seen on lots as small as this one! Articulation is the most important design element for these kinds of developments as it allows for borrowed space and viewing corridors to create deceptive space and privacy

The design accentuates an inner city futuristic lifestyle with high impact, low maintenance landscape for very busy careers, eventful social activities and quality of life. The pool was created to be a central meeting place for the home's occupants, as well as being a spectacular feature in its own right. Reflecting the home's "piazza", it sets the mood of the home as one of peace and tranquillity. The pool is also solar heated, which helps to cut down on unnecessary energy use.
