Our clients approached us with a very unique site in the inner city suburb
of Bardon. Behind the properties is a creek, the 'Aussie Billabong', which
we rehabilitated. In collaboration with the council, we turned it back into
what it was originally, which brought back the bird and aquatic life.
The houses are lightweight constructions, with the use of hardifex, custom
orb steel cladding, timber battens and decks mirroring traditional building
forms in the Brisbane area. This enables a connection to our history whilst
providing an important response to our future. Solid masonry walls to the
house closest to the active road carriageway protect all the homes both
from road noise and also the harsh western element.
Sustainability is not just a response to climate, energy and environmental
concerns through passive design techniques; it encompasses much broader
social, economic and urban issues. This development is a great response to
the community and urban problems we are faced with daily.
Each complete project is specifically tailored to its site, providing
every living requirement while making as little impact as possible
